Beginning March 23rd,
the Animal Control office will be closed to the public.
If you have to come in to Animal
Control, we just ask that you make an appointment. Please call our office
at 815-937-2949. We will have minimal staffing, so please be patient.
Animal Control Officers will be
available for calls during normal business hours.
As always, we will have an officer
on call for emergencies during non-business hours.

Coupons
will be available for pick up at Kankakee County Animal Control February 25 March 26, 2020 to Kankakee
County Residents.
·
Coupon
must be presented at the time of surgery, NO EXCEPTIONS!
·
Limit
2 coupons per household. Value of the coupon for dogs is $40, and cats are
$30. Pet owner is responsible for balance of the surgery expense and all
other expenses incurred at the animal hospital.
·
Owner
of animal must pick up coupon in person at 1270 Stanford Dr. during normal
business hours. Please see our website or Facebook page for business hours.
·
Owner
must bring in proof of residency. (Illinois State ID and a current utility bill.)
·
Owner
must bring in proof of pet ownership. Medical records, bill of sale are
examples of proof of ownership. Pictures may be accepted if they are in a past setting that
includes pet and owner. Animal Control reserves the right to deny pictures
as proof of ownership.
·
If
your pet is not current on rabies & registration, it WILL BE
REQUIRED at the time of surgery at the owners expense.
·
If
your pet has not been microchipped please be advised it is a County
ordinance and needs to be done. Microchipping gives your pet a voice should
it become lost or stolen.

Application and supporting documentation
must be turn into our office at
Provide current proof of residence in Kankakee County, drivers
license/State ID and current utility bill.
Provide proof of ownership of a dog or cat, (stray dogs,
stray/feral cats are not accepted). If you can not show proof of
ownership your application WILL not be approved.
Provide proof that you are eligible for the food stamp program or
social security disabilities insurance benefits program,( a copy of a
notice of decision, statement of benefits, or a letter from a local food
stamp office is acceptable proof of eligibility).
Take approved application/voucher to participating veterinarian
with whom you have scheduled an appointment for your dog/cats surgery.
Pay $15.00 co-pay to the veterinarian at the time of
the procedure.
You are responsible for any additional costs other than surgery and
approved vaccinations given the day of surgery.
You must pay for rabies
tag,(registration), and microchip if not already done If hospital can not
offer low cost microchip an appointment can be scheduled with Kankakee
County Animal Control department for this service.
You must provide transportation,(may participate in transport
programs through NAWS, or SSHS).
There is a three, (3), pet limit per household. Each pet would
require a separate application. If you acquired this pet in the last six,
(6), months you may not qualify; this program is not intended to
encourage someone to get a new pet if they cannot afford routine medical
care and treatment. If consideration is given it will be limited to one,
(1), pet.
THIS VOUCHER CAN
NOT BE USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH ANY OTHER COUPON OR LOW INCOME PROGRAM.

30 DAYS FROM APPROVAL DATE.

have outgrown our shelter and are very limited on the resources we would like to
offer the community. By donating to the shelter and organizations like
B.A.R.K.- we can work towards building a new shelter and resource center to
include quarantine rooms for sick animals and discount services for
spay/neuter, vaccination, microchipping, etc. Please help us better serve you

Because Animals Really Kount (BARK)
is a private 501c3 fundraising organization.
This group is a separate entity, but has partnered with Kankakee County
Animal Control. In 2013 Resolution #2013-12-10-172 was adopted. This resolution
recognizes by the county the partnership between Kankakee County Animal Control
and BARK.

Kankakee County Animal Control serves the unincorporated areas of the county
in regards to stray domestic animals, nuisance violations, and
neglect/cruelty investigations.
By Illinois state statute the Animal Control department
oversees Rabies Prevention to the entire County which involves issuance of
rabies tags and bite investigation.

Kankakee County, the Villages adopted the County Animal Control ordinance
and the citizens of Buckingham and Chebanse can call Animal Control directly for animal compliants and
concerns.

Redemption Fees can vary
depending on compliancy, jurisdiction and multiple offenses.
To keep cost of redeeming your
pet down if it does get lost please make sure they are current with their
rabies/registration and are microchipped.
Dogs and cats that are impounded
on a second offense shall,(must), be spayed or neutered prior to release at
the owners expense.
You will be provided a detailed
explanation of fees when you come in to identify your found pet.
If there is no identification on
the pet or we are unable to determine vaccination status your pet will be
vaccinated to help protect it and reduce disease in the shelter.

Cat Adoption: $125.00
Includes the following Distemper vaccination,
Rabies vaccination, ( if cat is of age), Rabies tag once Rabies vaccination is
given, Deworming, Felv/Fiv testing for cats over 6 months of age, spay or
neuter, Micro-chip and National Registration.
Dog Adoption: $150.00
Includes the following Distemper
vaccination, Rabies vaccination, ( if dog is of age), Rabies tag once Rabies
vaccination is given, Deworming, Heartworm testing for dogs over 6 months of
age, spay or neuter, Micro-chip and National Registration.
